Gerald Sanders, Sr., 74, peacefully transitioned to be with our Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2015.  He departed this life at home surrounded by his loving family.  A native of Beaumont, TX, Gerald was born to Edward Sanders, Sr. and Alice Mitchell Sanders on September 7, 1941.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Guiding Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Dan McDaniel, Jr.  Prior to becoming ill, he faithfully served under the direction of Pastor Vernon Hudson, Jr.
Gerald received his education from the Port Arthur School District.  He was employed with various companies and retired from Pinkerton Security with approximately 20 years of service.
Gerald married the love of his life, Octavia Beatrice Wilson Sanders and to their union four (4) children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwards Sanders, Sr. and Alice Sanders; son Travis Sanders, Sr.; brothers, David Sanders, Howard Sanders, Sr. and Edward Sanders, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Octavia Beatrice Sanders; son, Gerald Sanders, Jr. (Kesha); daughters, Tracy Sanders Rice (Kenneth, Sr.) and Tasha Sanders (Tommy) all of Port Arthur, TX; 10 grandchildren; 11 great – grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Sanders Smith of Houston, TX and Shirley Sanders Harrison (Allen) of Port Arthur, TX; 8 sisters-in-law; 7 brothers- in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, Hervis Levine, Jr. and George Smith.
Funeral will be Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Guiding Star Missionary Baptist Church, 448 Gizele Street (Montrose Addition), Port Arthur, TX. Viewing from 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.  Funeral services will commence at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
