The Bass University is coming to Orange January 23-24.
Some of the top pros in the country will be sharing their angling secrets in a private room at Lamar State College Orange for paying attendees.
Saturday’s lineup will be Davy Hite, Todd Faircloth and Pete Gluszek. Sunday will feature Mike Iaconelli, John Crews and Cliff Crochet.
“We’re excited to come to Orange with Bass University. This is a great opportunity for anglers in Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana to learn from the pros and see how we do things and engage us in an intimate setting,” Iaconelli said.
Classes are 8:00am to 5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday. Registration begins at 7:00am on Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday for “SundayOnly” registered attendees.
Each speaker gives two 45-minute presentations on cutting-edge bass fishing tactics and techniques. There is a breakout session each day, which is designed for an up-close and personal learning experience.
According to Iaconelli, this is the perfect opportunity for students to rub elbows and pick the brains of the pro speakers.
“There is a question and answer round table discussion each day, designed so that all three speakers have to answer each question from the students.”
Anglers are invited to bring their laptop or tablet. Bass University will have complimentary wifi and will be emailing the instructor’s presentations, electronic program book, and other electronic files.
At the class, all students receive a loaded gift bag full of tackle and special deals from Bass University sponsors including: 15 percent off TackleWarehouse.com, Flambeau Tuff ‘Tainer tackle box, a Bass University t-shirt, course notebook, and fishing tackle/ gear from Missile Baits, Rapala, VMC, Molix, T-H Marine, and Liquid Mayhem.
There are also chances to win from numerous prize giveaways such as jackets and apparel, a Bazuka Rod Storage tube from Flambeau, fishing gear, and more.
“We love being able to go into a classroom setting and talking with the anglers. It’s exciting to share what we know and also to see what the anglers want to learn,” Iaconelli said.
I attended one of these events in Dallas with Iaconelli in 2014 and was blown away with how approachable the pros were and how long they would talk with anglers about their techniques and approach to fishing.
This is a high level event with two Bassmaster Classic Champions (Hite, Iaconelli), two anglers who did very well at the two Sabine Elite events (Faircloth, Crews), an angler who knows Texas and Louisiana fishing very well (Crochet) and Pete Gluszek who is known as one of the top fishing teachers in the country.
There are price packages available for both days or single days and discounts for students.
