Eleanor Lutao Cordova Phillips

Eleanor Lutao Cordova Phillips, 79 of Port Arthur passed away Monday, January 18, 2016 in Houston. Eleanor was born August 29, 1936 inn Dancalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines to the late Rosendo Ambayon Cordova and Marcela Grandea Lutao. She came to the United States with a working Visa in 1975 and worked as an LVN for 3 years. She previously was a RN in the Philippines. Eleanor became a homemaker caring for her family. She loved to garden and raise beautiful flowers that desire was only matched by spending time with family, and a fervent desire to seek God’s will for her life. She always had a servant’s heart no matter what her condition she was always worried about others before herself. Even in her last few days the nurses would ask her if she was ok she would reply with, “I’m okay, how are you”.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Thelma Cordova Javelosa; brothers, Radolfo Lutao Cordova; Luna Lutao Cordova and husband, James Osborne Phillips.
Eleanor is survived by her Daughter, Esther Ruth Newsom and her husband Lewis; Step son, Dugan Phillips and wife Judy; step daughter, Michelle Sullivan and husband Wade; sister, Lilia Cordova Malundo; Rosemar Cordova Ablagon; brothers, Rosendo “Rally” Lutao Cordova Jr.; Jessie Lutao Cordova; grandchildren, Lewis Newsom Jr., James Newsom, Amber Sullivan, Jade Sullivan, Christina Boyington, Lindsey Johnston; Corey Guidry, Alexia Guidry, London Guidry and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, January 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street Port Arthur, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memoria Park, Groves.
