LUFKIN — The Port Arthur Memorial Titans defeated Lufkin Hudson 1-0 at the Lufkin tournament Friday.
Ricardo Monreal scored from 30 yards out on an assist from Roberto Guzman with 22 minutes left in the first half. Arturo Villarreal finished with 15 saves and was named Man of the Match by coach Clint Hoverson.
Hudson outshot Memorial 14-12. The Titans face John Tyler at 1 p.m. today.

PN-G goes 1-1 Friday
BRENHAM — Senior keeper Bryce Meche moved to within 10 shutouts of the Texas state record with his 51st career clean sheet. Brenham’s Zach Riffett set the record in 2001 with 61 career shutouts.
Koby Jones and Gunnar Nicholson each scored a goal in the second half.
PN-G lost its second match of the day 1-0 to Katy.
The Indians face Calhoun at 11 a.m.

Bulldogs notch two ties in Brenham
BRENHAM — The Nederland Bulldogs went 0-0-2 Friday at the Brenham Showcase with ties against Richmond Foster and Hempstead.
Anthony Drago was credited for the two shutouts. Mark Byars and Jaime Moreno were noted for playing well in the first match against Foster and Alex Celaya was reported by coach Torrey Gomez to have an outstanding match against Hempstead.
Nederland plays La Porte at 11 a.m. today and then takes on Calhoun at 3 p.m.
