BAYTOWN — The Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans suffered one of the team’s worst defeats of the season on Tuesday.

The struggle started early as the Lady Rangers (5-5) jumped out to a 12-3 after the first period and took a 19-8 lead into halftime. Memorial then scored eight points in each of the next two quarters as Sterling outscored Memorial 19-16 in the second half.

BEAUMONT — The Nederland Bulldogs scored early and often Tuesday against the Ozen Panthers.
Nederland defeated the Panthers 6-1 and the only blemish on the card for the Bulldogs (5-2-3, 2-0-0) came when Ozen scored off a penalty kick.
Jaime Moreno got the Bulldogs going with a goal at the 6-minute mark. He scored two minutes later off a corner assisted by Mark Byars.
Jace Edgar later assisted Daniel Luketich twice for two more goals. James Brindza scored at the 56-minute mark when Edgar assisted with a cross and Alex Celaya capped the scoring with a goal of his own at the 79-minute mark.

PN-G 2, GOOSE CREEK MEMORIAL 2
PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Indians and Goose Creek Memorial Patriots match got testy Tuesday.
The match ended in a 2-2 tie and, according to a fan, Port Neches police officers forbid the players to shake hands after it was over in fear of a fight.
Koby Jones scored the Indians (7-1-3, 1-0-1) first goal and Gunnar Nicholson made it 2-0 off a free kick.
Both Patriots goals came off rebounds, the first when PN-G keeper Bryce Meche blocked a penalty kick. The ball got free back to the kicker who booted the ball into the back of the net.
Meche, who is nine shutouts away from breaking the state career record, record six saves.
The Indians travel to face Lumberton on Friday.
