Charles Lee Burns

Charles Lee Burns passed on February 17, at Harbor Hospice at the age 79. Charles was born on November 22, 1936 in Parsons, West Virginia to the late Evelene and Henry O. Burns. He is survived by his two sons, Charles K. (Chuck) and David Lee (Deborah Frederick), granddaughter, Teslynn Nicole and great-granddaughter, Willow Rae, brother, Elmer Burns, Indianapolis, Indiana and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-six years, Maria Solis Burns, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He was a resident of Port Arthur since 1956 and recent resident of Nederland.
He was a previous owner and operator of Gulf Service Station in Port Arthur. He retired from Gulf Refinery with 40 years of service in the Package and Grease Department. He was a member of a bowling league, A.C.E. car club, an assistant coach (1970s) for girl softball league and Cub Scout volunteer.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Msgr. Dan Malain serving as celebrant. Interment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 5 PM to 8 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church or your favorite charity.
