PREP ROUNDUP: Sabine Pass softball blanks Chester 8-0

SABINE PASS — Lady Sharks freshman Jaizee Landry struck out 13 batters in Sabine Pass’s 8-0 win over Chester Friday.
Fellow freshman Raquel Johnson led the team with two RBI while teammates Alexis Castillo and Lauren Price each drove in a run.
Hailey Rosenthal had multiple assists on defense.
PN-G DROPS TWO IN TOURNAMENT
BRENHAM — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians went 0-2 at the Brenham tournament Friday.
The Lady Indians (3-2) first lost to Hendrickson, 4-3. Callie Jourdan struck out two batters in the game and went 2 for 3 at the plate with a RBI and a run. Alexis LaBure also struck out two while on the mound and also was 2 for 3 with a double.
PN-G out hit Hendrickson 8-7 but trailed 4-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the last inning played. The Lady Indians scored three runs in the final frame.
The Lady Indians then lost 8-0 against Brenham.
Rachel Hammersmith was 2 for 3 at the plate with a stolen base. Avery Hooks and Jourdan each had doubles.
Britni Hunt struck out three batters and walked five.
The Lady Indians face Ford Bend Austin at 10 a.m. today and then face Stevens at 2 a.m.
GIRLS SOCCER
PN-G 1, VIDOR 1
PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians took a 1-0 lead into half against Vidor Friday and talked about taking care of possessions.
It took the Lady Pirates under a minute into the second half to tie the match 1-1.
Mia Delgadillo scored in the 19th minute of the match for PN-G. The Lady Indians outshot the Lady Pirates 27-9.
PN-G is now 9-5-2 overall and 4-2-1 in District 22-5A heading into Tuesday’s road match at Baytown Lee.
WEST BROOK 1, MEMORIAL 0
The Port Arthur Memorial Lady Titans missed four late opportunities Friday to tie the match against West Brook and eventually lost 1-0.
The Lady Bruins scored the match’s lone goal with 18 minutes left on a 21-yard boot.
Memorial (0-4-1) keeper Theresa Puldio had seven saves.
BOYS SOCCER
NEDERLAND 1, LUMBERTON 0
NEDERLAND — Daniel Luketich scored the Nederland Bulldogs only goal Friday and it was the only one the team needed against Lumberton.
The score came in the 49th minute off an assist from Dylan Emerson.
Anthony Drago was credited with the shutout in the match. “He commanded his box well and stepped up to the challenge every time he was called on,” coach Torrey Gomez said. “Ethan Landry had a standout game and has been every bit the captain I hoped he would be.”
Nederland (6-4-5, 3-1-2) travels to Vidor Tuesday.
