Stephen Paul Keith

Stephen Paul Keith, 68, of Monticello, FL, passed away February 11, 2016 at his home. His visitation and memorial service were held on February 16, 2016 in Monticello.
He was born in Gallipolis, OH December 13, 1947 and was known to his family and friends as “Steve,” and to his co-workers as “Big Red.” He grew up in Jackson, OH, where he graduated from high school in 1965 before moving to FL to attend Florida College where he met his former spouse. After college, he moved to Port Arthur, TX, married and had two sons, Kenneth and Jay.
He was employed by Gulf Oil Company which later became Chevron and retired after 30 years. He also preached part-time for various congregations throughout his adult life. After retiring, he moved back to Florida to be near his mother and sisters where he was living at the time of his passing.
Steve was a competitive person and enjoyed a variety of sports including, but not limited to, football, tennis, racing, bowling, and softball. He excelled at all of the sports he participated in. His competitiveness facilitated his ability to connect with the children and youth he worked with in various Christian/Church camps. He loved kids and spent many summers at camp helping youth grow in their relationship with the Lord.
He was survived by his two sons, Kenneth Keith and his wife, Angie from Port Arthur, TX and Jay Keith and his wife, Na’omi from Lynnwood, WA, his step-son Brandon Brady from Austin, TX, his four sisters, Sandy, Shirley, Susan, and Carla and their families, five grandchildren, Kenneth P., Charlie, Maria, Holly, and Kayla, and two great- grandchildren, Kenny and Juniper.
