PREP ROUNDUP: Titans defeat La Porte in soccer

LA PORTE — The Port Arthur Memorial Titans remained in the District 21-6A boys soccer playoff race with a 3-1 win over La Porte Saturday.
Memorial took a 1-0 lead into the half after getting a goal from Raul Estupinan. He found the back of the net off a header and an assist from Juan Lua-Varragon.
The Titans (3-5-2) then took a 2-0 lead when Jesus Gonzalez scored with 39:40 left in the second half off a rebound.
La Porte made it 2-1 at 31:20 and Memorial put it away with 6 minutes remaining in the match when Alvaro Lopez scored. Coach Clint Hoverson said Lopez was the Man of the Match.
Memorial keeper Arturo Villarreal had nine saves.
The Titans are home to face West Brook in a critical league match at 3 p.m. Monday.

LEDET’S HAT TRICK POWERS NED FRIDAY
BAYTOWN — The Nederland Lady Bulldogs got a hat trick from Madison Ledet Friday in soccer.
The three goals were all the Lady Bulldogs (15-4-1, 10-2-1) as Nederland defeated Goose Creek Memorial 3-1.
The Lady Bulldogs play host to District 22-5A leading Lumberton Tuesday.
