Willard George Cormier was born on July 29, 1935 in Welch Louisiana, to Curtis and Florence Scott Cormier. He was the second of four children. In 1941, his parents relocated the family to Port Arthur, Texas where he grew up. There, along with his family, became members of the White Rose Church of God in Christ where he sometimes served as the drummer, and would often find himself competing with others for that position. Willard graduated from Lincoln High School and later joined in in holy matrimony with Dorothy McClinton. From this union they were blessed with four beautiful children.

During their lifetime in Port Arthur, Willard and his family became members of the First Street Baptist Church, where they all became active members. Willard began a career as a commercial delivery truck driver and became popular in the community. In 1971 Willard moved to Los Angeles, California and began a career with the County of Los Angeles, Library Maintenance where he retired as a senior maintenance supervisor after thirty-three years of service.

Willard became a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Compton, which later changed the name to Hope in Christ Community Church, where he served faithfully on the Board on Ushers as the Vice President. Willard was a master of maintenance, with an extensive knowledge in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills. He loved being of service for his church and always made himself available when his skills were needed.

On March 15, 2016 Willard was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Brian.
