Margery Elaine Parker Powell

Mrs. Margery Elaine Parker Powell, 66, better known as “Margie” was born in Port Arthur, Texas to the Late John Mack Parker, Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Paul Parker on February 25, 1950, the third of ten children. She was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School Class of 1968. She retired as a Postal Clerk from the United States Postal Service with more than 30 years of service and was fondly known as “The Post Lady with the short hair.” She was a faithful servant to God and St. Paul United Methodist Church. On April 7, 2016, Margie was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Linda Parker Powell and Sharon Mansfield. She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, her husband Richard J. “Ricky” Powell of 38 years, daughters Richarre’ “Lil Rikki” Antoine (Eric), and Jada Gilbert (Fred), and son Michael Alexander (Regina). Grandchildren Mia, Destiny, and Mone’ Alexander, Jabari and Jamari Gilbert, her sweetie Jayce Parker (Dezre’al) and her precious angel Janyya “Munch” Perry. Sisters Margaret Parker Holmes, and Jean Marie Parker Bienvenue; brothers John Parker, Jr., Darrell Parker, Michael Parker, Mark Parker, and Terry Parker and a tremendous host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with visitation from 12 noon until service time.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
