Beaumont man arrested, 41 lbs. of fake weed seized

BEAUMONT — A Beaumont man is facing federal charges after 41 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana “Kush” was found at a local business.

Jimmy Duriso, 36, was named in a federal warrant, according to a press release from the Beaumont Police Department.

Beaumont Police Narcotics detectives and Drug Enforcement Administration agents executed the federal warrant about 3 p.m. Wednesday for J&J Automotive, 5095 Concord, Beaumont. They were assisted by SWAT, K-9, special assignments unit, Auto Theft Task Force and bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

According to the press release, SWAT entered the business and the search was done with K-9 assistance. Approximately 41 pounds of suspected synthetic marijuana was found and seized.

Duriso was taken into federal custody for possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. The charge is related to the ongoing federal investigation.

Two additional people were arrested for unrelated warrants.

The investigation into the large amount of suspected synthetic marijuana “Kush” is ongoing and charges are expected in the near future, once the investigation is complete.
