Essie Mae Green, 95, of Port Arthur died at home on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 surrounded by family. A native of Washington, LA, she was a resident of Port Arthur, TX for over 85 years. She was a homemaker, baker, cook, and a member of Sacred Heart- St. Mary Catholic Church.
Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Ridgewood Baptist Church, 2920 Lake Arthur Drive, Port Arthur, TX with Pastor Dustin Guidry officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Survivors include her devoted son, Robert “Bobby” Green; grandchildren, Felicia Johnson (Roy), Tiffany James, Edward James (Meka); great-grandchildren; Kajory Johnson (Jamarria), Jalen Johnson (Kyra), Kierra Romanie Johnson, Mercedes Preston, Jasmine Preston and Zion Murray of Austin, TX; grand son-in-law, Roy Murray of Austin, TX; 8 great-great grandchildren; special nieces, Dorothy Austin, Susie Laday Rainey (Matthew), Gardena, CA, Wilma Laday Alfred, Baldwin Park, CA, Rilla Ladia Chatman, Seattle, WA, Harriet Laday, Castro Valley, CA, Linda & Gloria Jerue, Woodville, TX, Essie Mae Laday, Casey Laday Sanchez, Gwen May and Betty McCarthy, Houston, TX and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
