BEAUMONT — Senior corner Brendan Langley has received an invite to play in the 2016 Reese’s Senior Bowl, game officials announced Monday afternoon.

Langley receives the honor following a 2016 campaign that saw him earn first-team All-Southland Conference honors as a defensive back and punt returner. It also comes during a year that saw all 32 NFL teams make at least one stop in Beaumont during the 2016 season.

The game is slated to kick off Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1:30 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. Complete rosters for the senior bowl will be released in January.

A versatile athlete, Langley impacted all three phases of the game for the Cardinals during his two years on campus. Starting his career as a receiver, Langley was shifted to the defensive side of the ball midway through the 2015 season. He wasted no time impacting games from the secondary, recording 21 tackles, 11 pass breakups and picking off a pass.

His lone interception in 2015 was just a small sign of things to come for the Marietta, Ga., native. Langley tied an LU single-game record with three interceptions against Southeastern Louisiana as a senior. The three picks came during a stretch that saw Langley record at least one interception in four consecutive games.

Langley ended the season with six interceptions, as the Cardinals led the Southland Conference in pass defense. He finished the year just one interception shy of tying the LU single-season record of seven.
