Bulldogs pick up a victory

BRENHAM — The Nederland Bulldogs got two goals from Jace Edgar to start the Select Showcase in Brenham with a victory over Splendora.
Edgar scored a goal in each half and Travis Wiedenfeld put one in the back of the net off a corner kick.
Anthony Drago had four saves with a clean sheet.
Nederland is now 2-1-1.

BAYTOWN STERLING 1,
PA MEMORIAL 0

Despite a nice effort from senior keeper Saul Ayon, the Port Arthur Memorial Titans fell 1-0 to Baytown Sterling Friday.
Ayon had four saves and was coach Clint Hoverson’s Man of the Match. Sterling outshot the Titans 15-4.
Memorial participates in the Lufkin Tournament starting next Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER
PNG GOES 2-0 AT CLASSIC

PORT NECHES — The Port Neches-Groves girls’ soccer team continues to pick up the victories.
The Indians defeated Sam Rayburn 3-0 Friday before notching an impressive 4-0 win over Class 4A No. 8 Hardin-Jefferson at the PNG Kickoff Classic.
Grace Seymour had two goals against Rayburn and Mia Delgadillo had the other score.
Hailey Loupe had one of the goals against HJ.
PNG finishes off its portion of the tournament at 11:40 a.m. against Baytown Sterling.
Other scores of interest from Friday’s matches include: PA Memorial 8, Anahuac 0, Bob Hope 1, Livingston 1; Bridge City 2, Huffman-Hargrave 1; Crosby 2, PNG White 2.

PN-GROVES 29

PORT NECHES — The Central Jaguars put any threat of an upset out of minds Friday against the Port Neches-Groves Indians.
The Jaguars got 18 points from Jakobe Dill in an 80-26 win over the Indians at The Reservation.
Three other Jaguars scored in double digits with both Byron Arceneaux and Jordan Senigaur going for 14 and Jaylon Williams finishing with 10.
Keynel McZeal had nine for the Indians while Derrick Papa had six and Hunter Curtis added five points.
PNG (6-13, 2-3) hosts Port Arthur Memorial Tuesday.
