Critter Cam

Fallow deer are present on many Texas ranches and live on open range in many parts of the Texas Hill Country. These fallow deer are unique and represent the most distant Critter Cam photo we have ever received. The photo is from the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo, which Kingdom Zoo is working with to help restore Persian fallow deer populations throughout the wilderness areas of Israel. These deer were on the brink of extinction as recently as the 1980s, but the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo has been breeding them in captivity and releasing them. Recent fires throughout Israel have caused concern and currently their populations are being monitored by personal observation and game camera surveys. Persian fallow deer are larger than the standard fallow deer we see on Texas ranches and were the deer species that was common in the Middle East throughout historical Biblical times.
