Diamond Conference offers women a chance to shine

The Diamond Conference in Port Arthur has not only survived for the past 10 years, one may say it’s flourishing.
Charlotte Moses, with Christian Faith Women of Virtue is the executive director of the Diamond Conference and a Port Arthur city councilwoman. She said she was grateful that something new to Port Arthur a decade ago has survived.
“You’d expect a women’s conference in either Dallas or Houston to take off, but not in Port Arthur on this scale. We’re ready to go,” Moses said.
The Diamond Conference 2017 will have sessions starting at 5:30 p.m. and worship at 7:15 p.m. on August 9-11 at the Bob Bowers Civic Center, 3401 Cultural Center Dr. in Port Arthur. The event is sponsored by Christian Faith Women of Virtue, Inc.
This will be the conference’s 10th anniversary. Anywhere from 300 to 500 women are expected to attend.
This year’s theme is Living No Lie, based on 1 John 1:6- “If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not practice the truth.”
Conference registration fees are $50 for VIP and $40 for general seating. Registration may be done online at www.cfwov.com.
The speakers are Pastor Sarah Morgan of Los Angeles on Wednesday, August 9. She’s with Vision International Ministries and founder of Women of Vision.
On Thursday, August 10, Evangelist Sandra Riley from Chicago with Just For ‘U’ Ministries will speak. Pastor Jennifer Biard of Jackson Revival Center Church in Jackson, Mississippi will speak on Friday, August 11.
Psalmists Vonnie Lopez and Kirisma Evans will perform.
The session on Wednesday, August 9 will be about Building Self-Esteem called “Can’t Live Without YOU.” The other will be about Serving Women in Ministry called “Living the Dream.”
For Thursday, August 10, the Managing Finances session is called “Abundant Living,” the Battling Mental Illness session is called “Meant to Live,” the War Room Prayer Station is called “Live It Up,” and the Girl Power session for ages 11-18 is called “Living Proof.”
On Friday, August 11, the Leading Ladies Honoree Luncheon will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a panel discussion called #RelationshipGoals “Who Are You Living For?” and the War Room Prayer Station.
Moses said she always looks forward to worship, but she’s really looking forward to the empowerment sessions.
“That’s where women get the learning tools on how to live,” she said.
She described some of the sessions such as the one on building self-esteem as loving you and knowing how you should be treated. The session on mental illness doesn’t mean one is losing their mind, but how to stay focused.
Kaprina Frank, a banker and a Port Arthur city councilwoman, will conduct the session on managing finances.
The sessions will wrap up with a panel discussion and the Leading Ladies Luncheon.
