Rainbow Bridge closed due to flooding

On Thursday morning, Rainbow Bridge was opened.
By late afternoon, the bridge was closed again.
The road was opened and then closed as part of a joint decision between the Texas Department of Transportation and the Highway Patrol.
According to Texas Department of Transportation spokesperson Sarah Dupre, floodwater continues to sit on the road at the Port Arthur end of the bridge. Dupre declined to say how long it will take before the bridge might re-open.
“The bridge will reopen when the water recedes fully and the road is deemed safe to drive,” she said in an email.
As it stands, Veterans Bridge, typically one way, is taking traffic to and from Port Arthur.
