LU allowing food, drinks brought to stadium

BEAUMONT – Due to the impact of Hurricane Harvey on Beaumont, the Lamar athletics department is allowing fans to bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into Provost Umphrey Stadium for the Cardinals home opener against UT Permian Basin. Concessions will also be available for Saturday’s contest with a reduced menu.

“We understand that things are going to be tough on families in Southeast Texas due to the impact Hurricane Harvey had on the area,” said LU Director of Athletics Jason Henderson. “We felt the change to our standard protocol was necessary for the benefit of our fans. It will also ease the burden on our concessions as well.”

The university will continue to do bag searches at the entrances to Provost Umphrey Stadium before and during each game. Alcoholic beverages will not be allowed into the stadium.
