A 28-year-old man who was found unconscious on a sidewalk at Villa Main Apartment complex early Monday morning has died from a head injury.

Police responded to a call of an unconscious person around 4 a.m. and found the victim, later identified as Joseph Lindley, on the sidewalk at the apartment complex in the 900 block of Main Avenue.

He was treated by EMS before being transported to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Risa carpenter, public information officer for the city of Port Arthur, said. Medical staff at the hospital intubated and prepped him to be transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he later died.

The preliminary cause of death is a head injury. The case remains under investigation and it is not known is foul play is suspected.
