John N. Fong

John N. Fong, 80, of Groves, died Friday, October 6, 2017. He was born on March 7, 1937, in Bonita, Louisiana.
John retired after 30 years with Bayer Pharmaceuticals. He was a high school All-American football player and also played for the University of Arkansas. John loved gardening and cooking Chinese food for family and friends. Golf was his favorite sport and the Pea Patch was his favorite hang-out.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Fong, of Groves; sons, Robert Fong and his wife, Donna, of Port Arthur; Steve Fong and his wife, Carmen, of San Antonio; and Michael Fong of Austin; grandsons, Byron, Matthew, Nicholas, and David Fong; brother, George Caraway and his wife, Ann; sister, Sandra Miller; brother-in-law, Gary Miller; and sister-in-law Annie Low.
He was preceded in death by his parents, T.K. Fong and Ruby Caraway; and brother, Tommy Low.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
