Missing persons case leads to human remains discovery

ORANGE COUNTY — Law enforcement is working to identify human remains found during the search for a missing person in Orange County.
Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division were conducting a missing persons investigation on Monday, which led them to a wooded area north of the 2600 block of MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst.
Human remains of one person were discovered. Detectives assisted in recovering the remains by a forensic anthropologist from Sam Houston State University, according to a press release from the OCSO.
At this time, tests are being conducted to determine the positive identity of the person.
The investigation is on-going by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office CID, the Texas Rangers, and the Pinehurst Police Department.
