James Alfred Lynd

James Alfred Lynd, 91, of Port Neches, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. James was born May 20, 1926 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Barney and Eunice Lynd. James was a World War II Navy veteran and served on the Destroyer USS Cushing in the Pacific Ocean conflicts with Japan. He received his Master’s Degree in Psychology from University of Houston; and was a member of the VFW and American Legion of Port Arthur. Mr. Lynd also retired from Texas Employment Commission. James enjoyed fishing, family time, poetry writing and published several manuscripts.

James was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Janell Pinner and brother, Arthur Lynd. He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Lynd of  Port Neches; step-son, Jackie Pinner and his wife, Marie of Port Neches; granddaughter, Brandi DeLao; brothers, Pete Lynd and his wife, Shirley; Bernard Lynd and Dan Lynd; sisters, Eunice Walden, Dorothy Roddam, Patricia Bell, Daisy Taylor and her husband, Fred.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2017, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 2:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden in Orange.
