Mary Darby Simmons

Mary Darby Simmons, 76, returned to her heavenly home on November 6, 2017. Mary was born to the late Sydney and Edrana Darby, February 28, 1941 in Youngsville, LA.  Mary was a faithful member of the First Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gilbert Collins. She was a homemaker by trade. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Ozzie “Jimmy” Simmons, son Ezzie Simmons, grandson Cornell Patrick Bush Jr.  “Buddah”, one sister Savannah Knatt and one brother Dalfred Brown.  She touched so many lives during her 76 years taking care of family members and friends.

Mary is survived by, her children Cornell (Tammie) Bush, Martin (Angelis) Bush, Carlette (Terry) Odoms, Lisa (August) Durgin, Inova Simmons, Rachael (Rodney) Hardage, Dorothy Green, Gloria Smith, Billy Ray Simmons; 38 grandchildren and 76 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday November 11, 2017 at Eastern Star Baptist Church at 11:00 am viewing from 9-11am.  Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
