Port Arthur’s own Memorial Titans are set to be the grand marshal at this year’s Annual Cultural Lighted Holiday Parade on Saturday allowing the fans to congratulate them on a season well done.
The scheduling of the parade was in limbo, as organizers waited to see how far into the playoffs the team would go. Even though they were defeated in a last minute play, their strength and tenacity show through in a town where more than 80 percent of homes saw damage from Tropical Storm Harvey.
Lineup for the parade beings at 4:30 with the parade kicking off at 6 p.m. from the Lamar State College Port Arthur campus and traveling down Procter Street to Houston Avenue.
Christe Whitley, secretary to the mayor and city council, said as of Thursday afternoon there were 50 to 60 entries with more coming in every day.
There will be bands, businesses, churches, social and civic groups, schools and dance teams, the Mexican Heritage Society and even the Grinch.
