Mrs. Darnell Sargent, of Port Arthur died Monday, December 25, 2017 at Vista Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lewisville, TX. A native of Memphis, TN, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 22 years and was a retired seamstress. She was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church until her illness. She was also everyone’s MuDear.

A visitation is scheduled on Friday, December 29 from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with the rosary to follow at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel and services at 11 a.m. with Father David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.

Survivors include daughter, Freida Laverne Landry (Sterling Joseph) of Port Arthur; granddaughter, Diane Monique Landry of Euless, TX; great granddaughters Kandys of Houston, TX, Bianca of Euless, TX, and Raquel of Austin, TX; special niece, June A. Brown of Memphis, TN; special sister-in-law, Amanda Sargent of Washington, D.C., devoted friend Lou Ethel Walker of Gary, IN, and a host of nieces, nephews, dear family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thaddeus and Ida Wallace; brothers Boise, Eddie, Simon, and sister Lenora Wallace Moore.
