Staff report
Vidor police have identified a teenager who died early Sunday in a one-vehicle traffic wreck.
Madalyn Gracie Griffin, 14, was a passenger in a truck traveling near Wexford Drive and Highway 105 at 3:19 a.m. when the vehicle left that roadway and struck a tree.
Justice of the Peace Rodney Price pronounced the child dead at the accident scene.
Two other teens, both 13, were also in the vehicle. They were taken to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll said in an issued statement.
Carroll said the investigation was continuing Monday. He said the driver of the vehicle was one of the 13-year-olds, and that Vidor police will “work the case all the way through” and present it to the district attorney’s office for review.
