Dorothy Mier Toups

Dorothy Mier Toups, 86, of Lumberton returned to her heavenly home on January 26, 2018 after a valiant battle with a long term illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Dorothy was born August 23, 1931 in Gueydan, Louisiana to the late Jenus and Zulmae Mier. She was married to Robert G. Toups, Jr. on January 29, 1948. She was a member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church of Lumberton. She had a passion for gardening, playing dominoes and she deeply cherished her grandchildren with all of her heart.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jenus Mier and Zulmae Sonnier Mier; husband, Robert G. Toups, Jr.; sons, Gary Joseph Toups and Robert G. Toups, III; grandson, Bryan G. Moss; sisters; Mary Benoit and Rose Hebert; brothers, Leroy Mier and Robert Mier. She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Toups and Carol Toups; grandchildren, Donny Moss, Jr., Keeley Buescher, Johnny Bourgeois, Brooke Toups and Erik Toups; great grandchildren, Meghan Knod, Dylan Knod, Sophia Moss, Haley Moss, Jacob Moss, Noah Moss, Nicholas Moss and Evelyn Buescher; and a sister, Ruth Pilcher.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 29, 2018, at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton. Rite of Committal will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
