Mavis Ideline Phillips

Mavis Ideline Phillips was born in Guanaja, Honduras, Bay Islands C.A. on August 3, 1931. At 86 years she died at the George Town Hospital in the Cayman Islands, after suffering a long time illness.

Mavis resided in Guanaja, Grand Cayman and Port Arthur, Texas for many years. Churches she attended faithfully were Church of God and Seventh Day Adventist.

Proceeding her in death was her husband, Frank Earl Phillips; her daughter, Lodia (Phillips) Jackson; her sons, Danny and Kearney Phillips.

In her working years, she will be remembered as a friendly sales person at A. L. Thompson in the Cayman Islands. She was also a caregiver here in Texas.

Her favorite activities were horseback riding, swimming and gardening. She enjoyed activities and time spent with her ten grandchildren. Mavis was the adventurous type.

Mavis is survived by her two sisters, Feddie Moore, Melba Ebanks, daughter in law, Carol Phillips, sister in law, Linda Degen, Lilleth Ebanks and brother in law, Van Phillips. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 1 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends from 12 PM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

Family expresses a much gratitude to Elma Ebanks a lifelong and very faithful friend. Also thanks to the staff of The Pines in the Cayman Islands and all her healthcare providers.
