Bernadette Louise Franklin

Bernadette Louise Franklin, 84, quietly passed away, Friday, February 2, 2018 in Houston Texas. She was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas for many years before moving to Houston where she resided for more than 50 years.

Bernadette, fondly known as “Bea,” was born September 17, 1933 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to William and Ella Franklin. The Family later moved to Port Arthur in 1939. She is a graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1952. She continued her education at Prairie View A & M college receiving Bachelor and Master degrees.

She began her teaching career in Port Arthur for 10 years and later relocated to Houston where she later retired. She loved children and took great pride in her teaching career and dedicated herself to theater and dance.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic parish in Houston. She attended faithfully until her health declined. Bea’s community involvement included the Houston Ensemble Theater group and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

Bernadette is preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to mourn her departure a loving sister, Augustine Franklin of Port Arthur, dear friends Eva Carol Hannah, Geraldine Jones, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Hannah Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until service time.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
