Gary David Gant, Sr.

Gary David Gant, Sr., died on February 25, 2018. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 15, 1946, to Roland Avery Gant and Lovey Frederick Gant. He was married for forty – six years to Gail Drews Gant. Gary is survived by his wife and their two sons, Gary David Gant, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Joseph Cord Gant of Austin, Texas.  He is also survived by his brother, Stephen Gant of Houston, Texas, his Godmother Ruth Gant Fischer of Groves, Texas, and many cousins.

After graduation from Lamar University, Gary joined the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years with the rank of Major. His service included a tour in Vietnam.  He earned his MBA degree from The University of Kansas and had a second career with the GEO Corporation.

Those who love Gary are glad that he had many years of happy retirement during which he was able to renew his roots in Texas and enjoy his love of golf. He was a member of Onion Creek Club and had become an active bridge player.

Gary was a faithful member of his church, and memorials may be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church, 3701 W. Slaughter Lane, Austin, Texas 78749.  A memorial service and a reception will take place at the church on Friday, March 2, 2018 at eleven o’clock.
