A Beaumont man was killed early Sunday when he fell off his motorcycle on Interstate 10 in Orange County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Layne Floria, 37, was eastbound near mile market 870 when the accident occurred around 3 a.m. Orange Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner Jr. pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators were unsure why Floria lost control of his motorcycle, a 2001 Yamaha. Detectives were continuing their investigation Sunday.

The eastbound lanes of I-10 remained closed for about an hour.
