Class 5A
- Nederland vs. Kingwood Park (best-of-three): Game 1, 7 p.m. Thursday at KP; Game 2, 5 p.m. Friday at Nederland; *Game 3, noon Saturday at Nederland
- Winner to play Houston Waltrip or Galena Park
- Port Neches-Groves vs. Dayton (best-of-three): Game 1, 6 p.m. Thursday at PNG; 5 p.m. Friday at Dayton; *Game 3, 30 minutes following Game 2
- Winner to play Santa Fe or Houston Northside
- Vidor vs. Barbers Hill (best-of-three): Game 1, 6 p.m. Thursday at Barbers Hill HS, Mont Belvieu; Game 2, 5 p.m. Friday at Vidor; *Game 3, TBA

I.C. Murrell was promoted to editor of The News, effective Oct. 14, 2019. He previously served as sports editor since August 2015 and has won or shared eight first-place awards from state newspaper associations and corporations. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, grew up mostly in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
