Jose Luis Hernandez, 69, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 surrounded by his family at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Jose was born May 2, 1949 in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico to Vicente and Adela Hernandez. He worked in construction the majority of his life. He was a hard worker and enjoyed sports.

Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente Hernandez and Adela Mendez; brother, Arturo Hernandez; sisters, Isabel DeLeon and Olga Carlos. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria Sanchez de Hernandez; children, Gloria Hernandez-Morales; Isabel Hernandez-Juarez and her husband, Alejandro; Jose Hernandez and Luis Hernandez. Jose also leaves behind grandchildren, Edwin Castaneda; Brandon Morales; Alex Juarez; Alyssa Juarez; Aiden Juarez; Xavier Hernandez; Sebastian Hernandez and Jay Hernandez; 8 brothers and sisters;  and a host of nieces and nephews to cherish his memories.

The Hernandez family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff who took great care of Jose during his stay at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Hernandez will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
