A man is in custody for an early morning shooting death at Park Central Apartments on Monday.

Port Arthur police received a 911 call about the shooting at about 12:25 a.m. at the apartment complex, 8580 Park Central Blvd., according to a press release from PAPD. When they arrived they found a man lying near a stairway of the complex. He was attended to by Port Arthur Fire Department and Acadian EMS and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Devondre Benjamin, 19.

A suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is a 24-year-old Port Arthur man. He is being charged with murder.

The incident remains under investigation.
