A Jefferson County grand jury Wednesday indicted a Port Arthur man accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal auto-pedestrian collision.
Blake Devon Brown, 35, accused in connection with the May 26 death of Marvin Levine, was indicted on a charge of accident involving injury or death, a second-degree felony.
Witnesses told police Brown’s vehicle struck Levine while the victim was walking alongside a feeder road in the 300 block of H.O. Mills Blvd. in Port Arthur around 9 o’clock that night.
Police were told Brown was traveling at a high rate of speed, that he stopped after hitting Levine, apparently saw him lying prone in the roadway, then returned to his vehicle and fled. A probable cause affidavit was made for Brown on June 21.
Brown’s bond was set at $100,000; he was not listed on the Jefferson County Jail roster Thursday.
