Shirley Jean Crawford Riley departed this life on Monday, July 23, 2018 at 10:43 a.m. at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Shirley was born on September 14, 1934 to Mr. & Mrs. Anton Amy in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a 1955 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School and received additional degrees from Prairie View A & M University and Texas Southern University. Preceding her in death were her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Anton Amy, husband, Fred D. Riley, Sr., one step-son, Fred D. Riley, Jr. and a devoted cousin Mary Helen Love.

Shirley had been employed as a teacher with the Calcasieu Parish Schools and Beaumont ISD. She retired from Port Arthur ISD as a teacher and as a Counselor with 38 years of service. She was a member of New Saint John Missionary Baptist Church, the Mission of New Saint John, the Red Hatters Club, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She leaves to cherish her memories one cousin, Joseph R. Paige of Beaumont, Texas and many other children that she reared and loved in her lifetime.

The funeral services will be Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 11 a.m. at New Saint John Missionary Baptist Church on Gulfway Drive with Rev. Claude Comeaux, officiating. The viewing will be from 9 a.m to 11 a.m. The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Omega Omega Services will be at 10 a.m. Shirley will lie in eternal rest next to her beloved husband, Fred D. Riley, Sr. at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery. Service entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home.
