Emma Lois Boswell-Stephens

Mrs. Emma Lois Boswell -Stephens was born on April 29, 1927 in Houston, TX to the parentage of the late Mrs. Isabel Wheaton Boswell and Mr. Percy Boswell. Educated in Houston Public Schools, she was baptized at the Jerusalem Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.P. Churchwell.
In 1944, she united in marriage to the late Deacon A.L. Stephens. Out of that marriage, she was blessed with nine beautiful children. In 1945, she became a member of the First Sixth Street Baptist Church of Port Arthur, TX pastored by the late Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard, Sr.
True to her legacy of service, she served faithfully as a member of the Willing Workers, was a certified nurse’s assistant, a member of St. Mary’s Auxiliary and also volunteered at local schools with an Intergenerational literacy program called the Experience Corps. She was loved by all those she served.
She leaves to cherish her memory five sons–Calvin Stephens (Sandra) of Dallas, TX; Ronald Stephens of Los Angeles, CA; Reginald Stephens (Barbara) of Pearland, TX; Randy Stephens (Linda) of Houston, TX; and Malik Stephens (Angela) of Houston, TX; and four daughters–Debra Reed (Alvin) of Pearland, TX; Donna Blackmon of Dallas, TX; Julie Luton of Houston, TX; and Shannon Stephens of Dallas, TX. She also leaves behind 15 loving grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at First Sixth Street Baptist Church with visitation from 5 p.m. until service time. Burial will be 8 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
