Amelia Magdalen Broussard Defrancis

Surrounded by her family, Amelia Magdalen Broussard Defrancis of Port Arthur, Texas went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 29th, 2019. Amelia was born on July 24, 1922 in Plaquemine, Louisiana to Charles & Francis Broussard. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Francis Broussard, brother, Charles Broussard, Jr., sister, Geraldine Doiron, husband, Anthony Defrancis, and daughter, Judith Defrancis.
She is survived by son, Michael Defrancis and wife, Josie (Friendswood), daughter, Carol Gallegos and husband, Tim (Bridge City), son, Gary Defrancis and wife, Wanda (Port Arthur), daughter, Kathy Copeland and husband, Terry (Charlotte, NC), daughter, Janice Defrancis (Port Arthur), son, John Defrancis and Dawn Garrett (Bridge City), son, Chris Defrancis and wife, Faylene (Deer Park), 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren , numerous nieces and nephews.
Amelia was a devout Catholic and her faith was unwavering! She loved spending time with her family, camping out, fishing at the lake, long car rides, and playing slot machines at the casinos! Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was very proud of each and every one of them and loved them all unconditionally.
Special thanks to all of her doctors and nurses, for their continual care and support and especially to Victoria Gaytan (caregiver) who devoted her time and love for the past two years

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 6:30 – 9:00 pm and on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, 4841 39th Street, Port Arthur, TX. Rosary will be recited on Sunday, afternoon at 4:00. Funeral mass will be held at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 3706 Woodrow Dr. Port Arthur, TX. On Monday, February 4, 2019 at 11:00 am. Graveside service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy., Groves, Texas.
