Staff report
A Vidor man remained at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital on Monday following a three-vehicle Sunday collision on Interstate 10.
Mark Lark, 47, and a passenger were taken to the hospital following the collision, which remains under investigation. The Department of Public Safety said Lark was in surgery Sunday night and his condition is unknown.
DPS said the wreck occurred near mile marker 841 around 5 p.m. and started with the driver experiencing a medical emergency in Lark’s eastbound vehicle, a BMW. DPS said in an issued statement that the vehicle struck the cable barriers. That collision caused a tire to dislodge from the BMW, which traveled into the westbound lane and struck a westbound commercial vehicle. The collision also caused a cable wire to snap; that wire struck an eastbound pickup truck that was traveling behind the BMW.
The collision caused delays in traffic on both sides of the interstate.
