Suspect arrested in Beaumont murder case

Beaumont police arrested a local man Monday in connection with the Easter morning shooting death of Darrell Howard, 43.

In an issued statement, police said Tristan Kavon Williams, 23, and Donaldvan Joseph Williams, Beaumont, arrived at the Beaumont Police Department on Monday and asked to speak with detectives.  Both men were considered persons of interest in the murder of Darrell Howard early Sunday.

Police responded to E&L Touch of Class at 2:02 a.m. Easter Sunday and found Howard, 43, lying near the street, unresponsive. He later died while scheduled for surgery at St. Elizabeth’s hospital.

Police said both Tristan Williams and Donaldvan Williams gave a statement. Tristan Williams said he shot the victim.

Police said Tristan Williams was arrested for murder and transported to Jefferson County Jail. He was not listed on the jail roster Tuesday morning.

The homicide was the seventh in Beaumont in 2019.
