Teen charged in festival fight, investigation ongoing

PORT NECHES — A 16-year-old Port Neches-Groves High School student has been charged with the aggravated assault of another student that happened during RiverFest over the weekend.
The male student has not been named because he is a minor. He was transported to the Minnie Rogers Juvenile Facility.
The victim, a 17-year-old 11th grade PNG High School student, suffered significant injuries, which include a broken pelvis. Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine said his condition is improving.
The incident, which began as a verbal altercation then became physical, occurred around 10:20 p.m. Saturday at the Port Neches Riverfront Park. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges/ suspects are possible.
