Linda Brown Birdsong Kurtz, dob 03-09-48 born in Beaumont, Texas and lived in Mid-County area most of her life died on July 1st, 2019 at 9:00am.
Linda was proceeded in death by her father-Clyde Brown, mother-Thelma Brown and brother-Tommy Brown all of Nederland, Texas.
Linda’s Legacy of passion for life, love of others, and love of her family will continue to live. Linda is survived by her husband-Jerry Kurtz of Groves, daughter-Dana Sonnier Wickland and husband, Mike Wickland of Cranfills Gap, Texas; daughter-Denise Mailey-Delahoussaye of Dallas, Texas; son-Larry Sonnier Jr. (Bubba) and wife Shanna Sonnier of Nederland, Texas and sister-Clydel Green of Nederland, Texas.
Linda was the proud Grandmother & Great Grandmother (Nonnie) to Shelby Wickland, Todd Wickland, Joshua and Brianne Sonnier, Jude Sonnier-Moore, Taylor Mailey-Lummus and Robert, Trevin and Dixie Sonnier, Hunter Sonnier, Harlie Sonnier. Great Grandchildren-Michael Wickland, Gunner Lummus, Judah Lummus, Adeline Sonnier, and Rosalie Sonnier Nieces Paula and husband Mark Ferguson, and Melissa (Missy) and James Mohon Nephews Kyle and Wife Jodie Green, and Chadwick Brown. Nieces Eylse, Jenee’ and Nikke Arceneaux of Conroe, Texas, Danielle Kurtz of Port Neches, Texas and Noelle Kurtz of Port Arthur, Texas.
Linda graduated from Nederland class of 66, attended Lamar University and the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Academy. Linda’s career was in Law Enforcement for eighteen years, most of which was with Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. Linda was a member the Order of the Eastern Star, Port Neches Chapter #677, Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles #3743 and a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches, Texas. After Linda and Jerry were married, they lived in Port Arthur for ten years then moved to Mauriceville for the love of trees and nature for thirteen years.
Linda was full of life and had deep love for her family and friends. She had the spirit of a Warrior and the soul of an ocean, always steady. She believed in living BIG and loved even Bigger.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 10 AM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
