Evelyn T. Cedars, 89, of Groves died Friday July 5, 2019 in Groves.

She was a native of Abbeville, LA and resided in Groves for the past sixty-four years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception/St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a former President of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the former President of the Jaycettes. Mrs. Cedars enjoyed square dancing in the Swinging Squares and the Camping Squares Square Dancing Clubs, and she was a member of the Saturday Night Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents Eunny and Ory Chauvin and her husband of 65 years Charles E. Cedars.

Mrs. Cedars is survived by two sons, Michael and wife Myrna Cedars of Orange and Chuck and wife Deborah Cedars of Austin; two daughters Cathy and husband Roy Jr. Prosperie of Port Neches and Susan and wife Ashley Cedars of Houston; one sister, Delores Smith of Hemphill. She also, leaves behind ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection honoring Mrs. Cedars will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday July 11, 2019 at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Grammier – Oberle Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00PM. The interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
