Six birdies helped Andrew Landry get off to a much better start Thursday in the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, than a week ago in the PGA Tour’s first event of the 2019-20 season.
The Port Neches-Groves ex shot a three-under-par 69 over the Country Club of Jackson. Tom Hoge, who finished second last week in West Virginia, owned the early lead with a 64 when inclement weather suspended play at mid-afternoon.
Landry birdied two of his first three holes, fell back to even par after bogeys at No. 4 and No. 8, then birdied 9 to make the turn in 35. Birdies at 11, 12 and 14, around a lone bogey at 13 helped him moved up the leaderboard.
