Wildwood Golf Club set to re-open with new greens

After a four-month shutdown to completely redo the greens on the front nine, Wildwood Golf Club is set for a grand re-opening weekend starting Friday.
“Our golf community wanted Wildwood Golf Course to return to being one of the best courses in the area and our Board of Directors voted to approve the expenditures required to accomplish it,” said course superintendent Aaron Cox.
“Our grounds crew has worked tirelessly over the last four months. We are all proud of the end results and the golf course we can now present to all of Southeast Texas.”
To accomplish the changeover, Cox and his crew completely removed the soil on the front nine greens and replaced with tiff dwarf grass. Tiff dwarf is a grass especially suited to the weather conditions in Southeast Texas.
During the grand re-opening, there will be registrations for drawings for free merchandise, such as Wildwood golf shirts, an Odyssey putter and a Callaway Epic Flash Driver. Some lucky winners will also receive rounds of golf, carts included.
Anyone wishing to reserve a tee time should call 409-834-2940. The golf course is located within Wildwood Resort City on FM 3063. It’s 3 miles off U.S. 69/287 between Kountze and Warren.
