The Bulldogs, with no seniors on the team last year, made it to face Friendswood in the playoffs but were knocked out in a 55-51 overtime loss.
They are coming back with some stellar players, 10 of which are returning.
Then-junior Hayden Hefner (6-5) was named District 21-5A’s player of the year and selected to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ 5A All-Region III team.
Now going into his senior year, he’s already signed with Texas A&M over the summer. Also bringing experience back to the team will be Cedric Pete (5-10). Several more juniors are coming back as well, including Joseph Gipson (6-1) and Tyler Jackson (6-4).
The TABC picked Nederland coming in second this season in 21-5A, behind Memorial and ranked the Bulldogs 24th in Class 5A.
Coach Brian English will hope their experience will pay off, but he wants his team to play better together and more defensively.
2018-19 record: 21-15, 7-5 in 21-5A (third place)
Head coach: Brian English, 13th year
First game: Home vs. Lumberton, 4:30 p.m. Nov. 12
