Sheri Jean Hughes

Sheri Jean Hughes, 49, of Port Neches, Texas passed away December 16, 2019.

Sheri was born in Joliet, Illinois on February 10, 1970 to the late Leo and Darlene Boyle.

She was a member of Encounter Church and was known as a sassy and spunky woman.

Her overprotective nature earned her the nickname “Mama Bear” from her children and family.

She also loved dogs and was notoriously known as a “Dog Whisperer.”

Sheri had an incredibly big heart, was a very loving person, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Sheri’s memory are her husband of 25 years, David Hughes of Port Neches; her children, Alex Johnson and his wife Dominique, Michael Hughes, Austin Hughes, Tiffani Hughes and Bryce Parsley, and Trista Hughes; her granddaughter, Ellie Grace Johnson; Her siblings; Denise Heimer, Michael Boyle and his wife Lisa, and Kelly Boyle; and also, a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Tim Heimer.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland on Thursday, December 19, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at Encounter Church with Pastor Brent Sparks officiant.

Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
