Irene “Margie” Evans

Irene “Margie” Evans who graced our lives for Seventy-Nine Years, finished her course on Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Irene Evans was born on June 5, 1940 in Kinder, Louisiana to the late Amelia and Isiah Captain.

Growing up in the rural area of Hickory Flat, her education was still important.

Irene attended Carver Elementary and graduated from Carver High School.

On this day, God called one of his angel’s home, Irene Evans affectionately known to all who loved and knew her as “Margie.”

Margie was preceded in death by her parents Amelia and Isiah Captain, her siblings Effie, Elijah, Jack, Jimmy and Atilee Captain, Sally Bellard and Dora Smith, her granddaughter, Joycelyn “Prissy” Gardiner; the father of her children J.D. Gardiner, Sr., and her beloved husband Tony “B” Evans.

Margie is survived by her loving children Toni Gardiner, J.D. Gardiner, Jr. (Roni), Shoshanda Gardiner of Port Arthur, TX and Stefon Gardiner (Athina) of Beaumont, TX.

She leaves to mourn her grandchildren Sherena Thomas (Justin) of Nederland, TX, Joshual Gardiner (Krystyn) of Katy, TX, Desmond Gardiner (DeJonae) of Burleson, TX, David Gardiner of Chesapeake, VA, Amber Gardiner of Spring, TX, Mi Jai Hill of Port Arthur, TX, Nicholas, Sean and Peyton of Beaumont, TX, Jazmine and Brooke Bernard of Port Arthur, TX, and Tarik Pitre and Tanz Windon of Port Arthur, TX.

Great Grand Children, Tyvione Woods, Jayce Thomas, and Kaysen Gardiner and God Children Lillie Sperling of Port Arthur, TX and Joe “QB” Stevenson of Beaumont, TX. Her Sisters and Brothers in Law, Edith Texada of Beaumont, TX, James (Betty) Evans of California, George Douglas of Port Arthur, TX, and Linda (Kenneth) Rogers and Lillian Jackson of Houston, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

Our Mother touched so many lives, playing a pivotal role in her life were Jerry Moore, Terri Buchanan, Ms. Myra Howard, Karen Thomas, Drusilla Angelle, Ms. Nell McCarty, Breanna Angelle, Elijah Pryor and Henry Chambers.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.

Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
