Details from police are sparse in two crashes — one involving a vehicle versus a train and another a minor collision between a Port Arthur police unit and another vehicle that failed to yield right-of-way.

The crash involving the train occurred at approximately 11:53 p.m. Wednesday at the 39th Street Kansas City Southern Railroad Crossing.

A spokesperson with the PAPD who had limited information on both crashes said the train engineer is the one who called the wreck in to authorities. The injured were taken to an area hospital.

The number of injured or the seriousness of their injuries were not available on Thursday.

In addition, the type of vehicle involved in the crash was not available.

The railroad crossing has flashing lights but did not appear to have crossing guard arms when media checked on Thursday.

A minor wreck between a PAPD vehicle and another vehicle happened at approximately 12:54 a.m. Thursday in the 500 block of Houston Avenue.

The officer was treated and released, according to a spokesperson with the department.

The Texas department of Public Safety is investigating the crash because it involved a police officer.

There was difficultly obtaining further details of both incidents due to police staffing during the holiday.
